Jai Gurudev !!
Just happened to face a question from a colleague of mine ,
" When Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathy have 2 kids viz. Ganesha and Subramanya , why don't Lord Vishnu have any kids ? "
Though the question brings a smile to our face , it makes us to really think about it .
In temples and places of worship , we see the pictures of Lord Shiva along with His wife Parvathy , with their sons Ganesha and Subramanya and worship is made to the idols with fervour and devotion . Mount Kailash is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva .
Similarly Lord Vishnu is being prayed along with His wife Goddess Lakshmi . Tirupathi Tirumala is a popular temple down south for Lord Vishnu. But , nowhere we see or hear about the children of Lord Vishnu.
Contemplating on this aspect , we can say that ,
" All these Divine forms , which exists in Hindu Mythology depicts the different states of Consciousness , which a human being can witness in his spiritual journey !!
It can be put as :
Here Knowledge represents Ganesha Consciousness , as Ganesha is the Lord of Knowledge. And the Joyful /Blissful state represents Lord Subramanya or Muruga . Lord Muruga is the bestower of Material pleasures and Joy .
We can see that whole humanity gets benefitted by this consciousness. With the attainment of Krishna Consciousness , He starts to care for the world. The Earth finds it's caretaker in Krishna Consciousness .
And the Hindu religion initaites one into the path of spirituality by making him familiar with the various consciousness as the first step . This has led to the construction of temples and formulation of customs /practises / stories associated with it due to which the knowledge finds a way to get transferred from generation to generation easily and stays immortal in this world .

It can be put as :
- The Deep meditative state represents the Shiva Consciousness .,
- The State of action or Dynamic power is represented by Goddess Parvati or Devi .
- A combined state of Meditation and the Dynamic action leads to the birth of two more consciousness states ; That means , a person who practises *deep meditation* and also engages oneself in * 100 % action* would witnesses the birth of *KNOWLEDGE* and attain a * state of Joy and Bliss * .
Here Knowledge represents Ganesha Consciousness , as Ganesha is the Lord of Knowledge. And the Joyful /Blissful state represents Lord Subramanya or Muruga . Lord Muruga is the bestower of Material pleasures and Joy .
- One who indulges himself more and more in meditation and remains in the path of Truth and Knowledge can witness the blossoming of one more Supreme consciousness called as Krishna or Vishnu Consciousness .
We can see that whole humanity gets benefitted by this consciousness. With the attainment of Krishna Consciousness , He starts to care for the world. The Earth finds it's caretaker in Krishna Consciousness .
- In Fact , the Inner Consciousness of Lord Krishna is Shiva Consciousness .
- And the outer consciousness of Lord Shiva is Krishna or Vishnu Consciousness .

Interesting...
ReplyDeleteThis perception of the deities, as metaphors to various levels of consciousness is more fathomable than the usual ruckus...
Nice post Ma'am...
Thankyou Raghavendra !!
ReplyDeletewhat a coincidence, I had the same question flash in my thought/mind and google search led me to your blog. Like your anology of various hindu gods representing various states of mind/consciousness, but that still does leave the question unanswered. Why lord vishnu and lakshmi don't have kids? Let me guess (my own version) maybe it is because to indirectly imply (to us, people/devotees) that even gods can't have all the wealth/health/pleasures at the same time. You are always left wanting to have something that you don't have. Poor have kids (want money); rich have money (want kids); those who have both (kids and money) want health and/or peace(of mind) and the list of what you have and what you want (don't have yet) is never ending. So maybe that is the reason? Still waiting to know the answer from some kind of real guru who knows this answer.
ReplyDeleteapplying the common mens havs and havnots to super human being is not proper and really this question needs a deeper understanding of mythology
DeleteLord Vishnu has missions and took dasa-vataram , Vishnu means Water and Laxmi means Wealth, water and wealth do not get subdivided but it multiplies in their true form. But in human form they had kids. Or Fusion of water and wealth is not logical but they can remain together forever as married.
DeleteHi Kavitha ,
ReplyDeletePerhaps Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi would have decided not to have a kid , as they consider all us people of this world their own .
They are very busy attending to the needs of the people in terms of the wealth and various needs!!

VISHNU does not have kids because he considers us his kids. And he is the only kalyankarak. Further vishnu's s the only God. Brahma and shiva are only maha yogi and not God themselves .
DeleteIt sounds right

ReplyDeleteI want to share here something what i realise in my conscious stage,
ReplyDeleteIN all the form of cosmic species either they from earth or alien, they do have some "Yantra" our Vedic Yantra, not the one mechanical equipments. These Yantra is present in our senses , these Yantra gets activated by chanting Mantra and perform actions by our Body as per Yantra's manifestation. When You chant " Om" the inner Yantra takes shape of Shiva , and further chanting this mantra Adi Shakti takes the form and then as per further progress of this recitation and deep meditation Yantra takes gradually other forms like Ganesha, Vishnu, Brahma, Skandha, and all 33 gods flowing their energies through 33 crores veins and ultimately merges in to OM form of Yantra.....
Please experience and share
Om: Creates the Sky and atoms
ReplyDeleteNamah: Makes Reaction between atoms and makes nature
Shivaya: Re-unites atoms to Om according to their radio-active.
Why Lord Vishnu has no Children?
ReplyDeleteWhen a Baby is born in this world, Brahma makes a body of earth, fire, water, and air , the fifth element that is sky is evolved with the energy of Lord Vishnu's energy. And this is done in 3rd week of child's existance to end of the Life' Journey. Shiva guides the Energy to Om.
Lord Vishnu is the supreme being of all existence. Rest all are created with his intentions. Brahma is Maaya form created by Lord Vishnu and Shiva is Manavavataram (HUMAN FORM) IN KAILASH PARVAT in Himalayas. Lord Vishnu being Supreme being Can create a N number of creations, N number of forms. He dont need anyone to do his things, but he can make anyone be used to make that thing going. He dosnt need any one to follow him but He follows everyone like a shadow. He cannot be seen like water-vapour in air, but can be experienced like a rain in a desert & We All are His Children.
ReplyDeleteLast and not the least: LORD HAS NO NAME, NO AGE, NOR TIME BOUND. LORD IS NOR MADE OF ATOM NOR ANY CHEMISTRY. LORD DOSNT NEED ANY FORMULA FOR EXISTANCE NOR ANY MATHEMATICAL ABBREVIATION FOR EXACT DISTANCE. LORD IS WITHIN YOU NEAR YOUR HEART ALWAYS THERE TO HELP YOU. WHAT YOU CALL, WHOM YOU CALL IS ONLY ONE. THAT ONE IS NO NAME. ITS YOUR LOVE THAT LORD WANTS AND NOTHING ELSE.
