Jai Gurudev !
A simple calculation on how our lifespan is distributed generally ...I bet you , it’d be quite interesting .
Our lifespan , let's consider it as 70 years , better we keep it on the higer side .
On an average ,
we sleep for about 8 hrs a day , meaning one third of our lifetime is spent in sleeping .
We spend about 2 to 3 hrs a day in bathrooms that amounts to approximately ie one nineth of our lifetime .
We eat and munch for about 2 to 3 hrs a day , then another one nineth of lifespan is gone .
Then we travel or commute for about 2 hrs a day , one more one twelth of lifetime is passed off .
And our worktime is about 8 hrs a day , adding up to another one third of our lifetime .
How much time do you think , it will be left over ?
Total Lifespan (say) | 70 yrs |
Years spent for sleeping (1/3 th) | 23.3 yrs |
Years spent in bathrooms ( 1/9 th) | 7.7 yrs |
Years spent for eating (1/9th) | 7.7 yrs |
Years spent in travel (1/12 th) | 5.83 yrs |
Years spent in work (1/3 th) | 23.3 yrs |
Total years spent for the above | 67.86 |
Actual years left over for other activities | 70 - 67.8 | 2.2 yrs |
So,out of 70 long years , we are left with only 2.2 years for our own self !

And in that short span , what not we do ?
We gossip , fight , grumble , be depressed , become tensed etc...
Do we really strive to spend that little time effectively ?
To do our favourite hobbies , to talk to our loving friends /family members , to enjoy and be relaxed , tension free , go on a lovely tourist spot , to be with ourselves ?
It's a question worth asking ourself and introspect , I guess !!
What do you say ?
Love & smiles...
