A Disastrous Day in the history of Japan !!

Worst ever Earthquake followed by a Huge Tsunami !!

A series of explosions at the Nuclear Power Plants joined hands to add to the woes of Japanese !!

The Land of Rising Sun  or  The Land of Disasters ?!

Japan grew up due to its hard working people after it was struck hard by Hiroshima - Nagasaki Bomb explosion . Now one more series of Nuclear explosions ...Japan is shaken up thoroughly !!

People are gone helpless and are left stranded in the midst of the unbearable and unexplaianble miseries widespread in Japan .

Life has become even more critical and challenging for the survivors of the Earthquake /Tsunami . They have to face the severe threat of being exposed to the radioactive leakages .

Nuclear burst plumes  !!

The handwork of Tsunami !!

The cracked and broken roadways !!

The pathetic sight of the lady sitting and crying in the midst of the tragic place.

Another heart breaking scene !! 

                                                     Food being served for the people who have gone homeless over night !

On looking at the pictures of the devastated Japan and the sufferings of the people over there , the world is shedding tears all over . The nuclear radiation is another major cause of concern .Japan is keeing its fingers crossed as how to arrest the burning nuclear reactors .The Government is planning to bury the nuclear reactors underground. This once again might not be a safer remedy because it will have its own serious implications.

Though the disaster is pertinent to Japan , the remaining world is visibly shaken up by the after effects and the sufferings of the Japanese. The prayers are conducted throughout the world for the peace of thge people there. Atleast , a moment of prayerful thought comes to every individual , seeking for the relief of the Japan people .

Why so ? 
Why does the misery in one part of the world touches others ?
What for a person in the other part of the world ? Why does he need to shed tears on their misery ?
But, it's happening of its own ...The whole world is worried over the grim situation in Japan.

This clearly indicates that we are all inter-related in the subtle level . The sufferings in any part of the world affects the peace of mind of the person living elsewhere in the other extreme end of the globe.

 Latest news says that the plumes of nuclear emission has reached the U.S coasts and has created a cause of concern there too.

So , can we not say , the Earth is ONE SINGLE living oraganism !!
The problem at one part affects the whole system directly or indirectly  ...immediately or sometime later , just a matter of time  !! 

Now atleast  , will the message of oneness reach every nook and corner of the world ?

Will all the differences of the religion, caste, creed and place vanish , once for all ?!

Can we expect something good to happen from this bad happening ?!!

Heart Hygiene !!

Prayer Room or the place of worship is one place , we would like to keep it tidy and neat devoid of any dirts , be it a Church, a Temple or a Mosque or a Puja room at house.

 Not only that , we light up a candle or a Deepak , decorate with flowers and fill the place with nice fragrance of Incense sticks etc..

We maintain Silence and a peaceful environment at any point of time or enrich the place with instrumental sounds and prayer songs .

This is the normal protocol for a place  to be divine anywhere in the world.

We , humans  do conduct prayers regularly or atleast at difficult times of our life...

But , do we maintain proper cleanliness in

- our mind , where the divine is brought to our focus,

- our mouth , where the Chanting of Lord's names happens or prayer songs are sung .

-our Heart , where the divine dwells with all His Glory !! 

 

Are we keeping a watch on

- the dirty thoughts or the unwanted desires in our mind ?

                

  - the words spelt out from our mouth that hurts others ? 

  - the negative aspects like Hatred , Jealousy etc that might pre-occupy our heart ?

Are we maintaining the proper  Hygiene while conducting the prayer ?!

Mountain Movers & Shakers !!

"Faith moves the Mountains " is a very popular saying . Jesus has said , " if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. "However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting."

Contemplating on these great words , my mind was taken on  a wide tour of numerous instances in our history. If we take the story of Hanuman in Ramayan, the great epic , it's quite amazing to hear his valour and deeds .At one particular point of time, to save Lakshman, Rama's dear brother ,  a herb called Sanjeevani was required and it were to be seen in only the Sanjeevani Hills . Then , Hanuman was asked to bring that herbby Rama  as he was supposed to be the strongest of all  .  And Hanuman  , instantaneously set out on His master's orders .He could not trace out that particular herb, so he decided to lift off the whole hill and carry it to Rama . With the weapon called as mace or Gada in his right hand, he carried the hill in his left hand and flew back to His master without any delay.The people were surprised to see the act of valour by Hanuman.Lakshman was saved , thanks to Hanuman's efforts.

"How could Hanuman do that ?" is a question to ponder . But He had done that as per the purana or history. One thing is very obvious that , it's the *Faith * factor ,which had done the magic. Hanuman is a Great devotee of Rama .

 He is believed to have opened his heart and revealed Ram and Sita , who dwell in His heart. The unshakeable Faith of Hanuman has empowered Him to move the mountain and lift it , no doubt .

Faith has indeed moved the mountain !!

 How aptly has Jesus said it !!

The Most Compassionate and the most Beautiful Lady of all times !!

It was a non detailed lesson in my school days . I was so much fascinated by the experiences of Sindbad in his seven voyages . In one of his voyages , Sindbad and the co sailors would get attracted to a lovely island  and they would start to have a great fun time there . They would even start to cook there by litting off  the fire. The island then would start to shake and move . Very soon they would come to know that it was actually a Big Blue whale which had appeared like an island . The heat of the fire had woken up the huge creature. All the sailors on the whale would fall in the ocean. Only very few  survived. Sindbad somehow had a miraculous escape after a great struggle in the ocean. The story goes that way...

This Blue whale story still has a deep  impact in my mind and it just brings to my thought that we , all living creatures indeed live in the Earth , a Living body ofcourse. Just because the Earth is a living object , it is able to sustains us , living beings . Can a non living object support life ? Only a living object can give rise to another living object , as we are aware . 

And as humans , we exploit the Earth to it's maximum , causing her to provoke due to which the Earthquakes, Tsunami , Climatic changes , Global warming etc is starting to happen at an alarming rate  . It's time for us to wake up and join hands to minimise our devastating effects on her .

We are also the sailors of Life  like Sindbad , having a gala time at the Earth, who is of a loving and kind nature   ....

We do not know when will she become so furious that no longer can she sustain our exploitation  ?!  

One thing is for sure that , that time is not very far !!

The Secret to a Carefree Life !!

As humans we are used to lead our live in a particular fashion , we expect the things to happen in one particular way and whenever the things turn topsy-turvy , our moods would go for a toss and we get emotionally upset eventually. This particular behavioural pattern , I started to notice sharply in my ownself of late . And was literally taken aback  by my own emotional change  .

To quote a few instances ... when even the milkman misses to drop in the milk packet for a day or the maid servant takes off without any prior notice or when the normal daily routine gets affected unexpectedly , immediately my mood would change and in turn I would start to feel uncomfortable . In other words , I could sense the disturbance in the peace of my mind .

Being aware of this , I just continued , having a close watch on my own self.

Just last week , a sudden plan to travel to my native place came in the way. No advance bookings and without any reservations , taken up the train journey and thoroughly enjoyed the above said behavioural pattern of mine with a sarcastic smile to myself .

That moment , a thought came like a flash . Why do we have to expect things to happen in the same monotonous way ? Why not we take up the things in the way  as it comes ? Just accepting the things as it happens minimises our worry to almost nill and relieves the mind from unwanted stress and tension.

And this , Lord Buddha has pronounced it rightly  as  " We are indeed like a falling leaf that is blown and is turning around through the air, wavering and tumbling to the ground.” 

How true his words are  !!

Just be like a falling leaf ...

Swaying to the tunes of the wind

This way or that way ...

Upside  or  down !!
What difference doe it make to a leaf !

A Free Flow indeed !!

If at all the leaf thinks ,

it has to move only in a particular direction ,

Will not the leaf undergo a heavy stress

resisting the change in direction against the wind's force ?

Is it not wise to be like a Leaf ..         

Taking the life in its own stride

and be free like a bird ?! 

Happily singing and flying !!

Smiling Beauties !!

As kids , how much we smile ?!

It's estimated as 400 times a day !!

Even while sleeping , the baby gives a bright smile and giggles !!

With the years passing by , our smile rate also reduces gradually. As adolescents , we have our own fun and joy. Still there's much of laughter left with us. On an average , our smile rate reduces to 17 times a day in the adolescent stage. 

 From adolescent stage to adult stage ,we smile lesser and lesser .

 

As adults , how many time we smile in a day ?We can observe our own self and do a self study ...Hardly we give out a Smile from our heart !!

Work tension , equal amount of commitment in home front , we get exhausted so much and we forget even to give a smile at the faces we meet in our day to day life.

 And we ask a price to deliver a smile . We need a joke or a light situation for the smile to blossom .And we attend to the humor clubs or laughter clubs to experience  a heartfelt laughter . 

The old age people having a hearty smile would happen once in a blue moon , perhaps !! 

Why is this change ?

Does  the worries and tensions swallow the Sweet Smile of our face ,

like how the snake swallows the moon during an eclipse  ?!

When will we come out of this eclipse ?

A Transformed Village - Unbelievable !!

Unmanned shop in Kathewadi village .

There's a surprising news about the tiny village ,Kathewadi,which is situated  in Nanded district in Maharashtra.


A Complete transformation has happened in this village ,much to our awe in the present day scenario with violence and corruption prevailing everywhere.

Just imagine a shop  unmanned by a shop keeper !Meaning the goods bought would be paid for, without supervision ?!
Could you believe it ?

Yes , a shop near this village main temple houses that unique facility Each product is labelled and marked with the prices. There is a large box in which the villagers put in the money for the items they pick up and another little one marked Daan Peti(donation box) in which they collect money for development work in the village.

The village is maintained clean and the homes neatly painted in a uniform shade of soft pink !!


All  homes have a toilet. The village people have collected money and built one toilet outside each house.


Men and women have come out of their homes to gather for the satsang that they all participate in every evening.


The whole village has become totally addiction free is the highlight !!
All the money that was spent on vices like alcohol and tobacco is now used constructively , says the 25-year-old  sarpanch of this village , Sangeeta Suryavanshi .
She adds proudly , "  "One member of every family in this village has done an Art of Living course: The Nav Chetna shivirs, youth leadership training programme and the basic course. It has brought such a change in our society. And Sri Sri Ravishankar Guruji is the inspiration behind all this !!  " 


They have self help groups of ten people each and these groups solve any issues and implement solutions.


Allauddin Sheikh , an old man of  this village of 700 people says , 

"My family has lived here for generations. My son has done the Art of Living Course and he is very happy with all that he has learnt. In all my 80 years I have never seen such a transformation in our village. We live in complete harmony and help each other in times of need."
